side-chain input as the compression key instead of the input signal, while a

Listen button switch lets you audition the signal that is being used to trigger

the compressor.

The 4030 Retro Compressor uses a signal dependent system to automatically

adjust the various compression parameters to reduce artifact generation

(aproblem in all analog and digital compressors) and to colour the overall sound

in a vintage style. As the input signal is processed, the signal characteristics are

analyzed in real time to adjust compression parameters to minimize unwanted

gain reduction artifacts.

The 4030 Retro Compressor, like all Retro Pack plug-ins, has a new Anti-Clip

output stage that eliminates digital clipping. Extreme caution is warranted

when increasing makeup-gain of a typical digital compressor to prevent digital

clipping, but with the 4030 Retro Compressor, the digital clip is replaced with

asubjectively derived saturation.
